Google documented the end of new Gemini Code Assist Standard and Enterprise sales on 9 October 2026. The sunset page was last updated 2026-10-13 UTC, and the deprecations table carries the same stamp. This is a planning note for teams still on those subscriptions. It is not an outage dated today.

The sunset page says: “Starting October 9, 2026, you can no longer purchase new Gemini Code Assist Standard or Enterprise subscriptions.” It then says existing subscriptions “will continue to work and remain supported until the end of your contractual agreement.”

On licenses, the same page says: “You can continue to add licenses until January 31, 2027. After this date, no new licenses can be added.”

On renewals it separates the two terms. Annual: “you can continue to auto-renew your subscription until January 31, 2027. After this date, annual subscriptions can’t be renewed.” Monthly: “you can continue auto-renew your subscription until December 31, 2027. After this date, monthly subscriptions can’t be renewed.” The monthly sentence is written that way on the page, without “to” before “auto-renew.”

What the deprecations table adds

The deprecations table has four columns: Feature, Deprecated date, Shutdown date, and More information. For the four Code Assist subscription rows, Shutdown date is empty. The dates sit in Deprecated date.

Feature, as the table names it Deprecated date Shutdown date
New Standard and Enterprise subscriptions October 9, 2026 (blank)
Additional licenses January 31, 2027 (blank)
Renewal of annual subscriptions January 31, 2027 (blank)
Renewal of monthly subscriptions December 31, 2027 (blank)

The more-information cells use “After,” including “After October 9, 2026, you can no longer purchase new Gemini Code Assist Standard or Enterprise subscriptions.” The sunset page’s opening line says “Starting October 9.” The table’s license cell says “purchase additional licenses.” The sunset page says “add licenses.” This account does not collapse those wordings.

What the 9 October release note says

The release notes entry dated October 09, 2026, is shorter. It says sale of the subscriptions is ending, and that starting 9 October new Standard and Enterprise subscriptions can no longer be purchased. It says existing subscriptions will continue to auto-renew through the rest of 2026, and that auto-renewal will end in 2027. It does not give 31 January or 31 December. Those dates are on the sunset page and in the table.

That 9 October entry does not mention a sales exception. An earlier entry on the same page, dated September 04, 2026, said new subscriptions could no longer be bought in the Cloud console with a billing account that had no active Code Assist subscription, and that those accounts could contact Google Cloud sales. The later entry does not repeat that path.

Where Google points teams next

The sunset page says agentic coding assistance “will be available through Antigravity, which is included in Gemini Enterprise editions,” and that teams should plan a move to Gemini Enterprise before the plan’s final renewal or contract end. The 9 October release note says Antigravity is available through eligible Gemini Enterprise subscriptions and through Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. “Included” and “eligible” are both Google’s words, on different pages.

The sunset FAQ points to Antigravity IDE extensions, “which includes extensions for VS Code and JetBrains.” The extensions page itself also lists Visual Studio, Zed, and Xcode. Its enterprise sign-in section says the Gemini Enterprise integration is currently in Preview for JetBrains and Zed. The JetBrains, Zed, and Xcode cards on that page each say enterprise support is in Preview. The VS Code card does not.

The same FAQ links a Gemini CLI to Antigravity CLI migration guide. That link redirects to Migrating from Gemini CLI. The guide says a first agy run can detect existing Gemini CLI profiles, and it documents agy plugin import gemini for turning extensions into plugins. Workspace skills in .gemini/skills/ have to move to .agents/skills/, or the agent will not treat them as slash commands. A note on the page says skills, rules, and MCP servers are kept, and that some Gemini CLI terminal themes or experimental visual overlays might not be.

What to check before the renewal dates

Read the contract term against those two dates before planning a move. Seats already on the agreement keep working until it ends. Extra licenses can be added until 31 January 2027, and not after. The table still has no shutdown date for the subscriptions themselves. Try the CLI import on a copy of the Gemini CLI config before the renewal cutoff that matches the term. The 9 October note is the sales change. The sunset page, updated 13 October, is the one with the two renewal dates.
