Microsoft is retiring the Copilot Studio app inside Microsoft Teams. The Microsoft 365 Message Center notice MC1511056, published on 16 October 2026 and tagged as a major change, sets two dates:

  • January 2027: “editing agents in the Teams app will no longer be supported.”
  • February 2027: “the Copilot Studio app will no longer be available in Microsoft Teams.”

Microsoft says the rollout starts in early January 2027 and should finish by early February 2027. Creating new agents in the Teams app is, in its words, “already no longer supported.” Windows Report covered the notice on 19 October.

Who this affects

The notice names two groups: people who use the Copilot Studio app in Teams “to create, edit, publish, or manage classic-style chatbot agents”, and the admins and support teams who tell them how to do it.

Nothing disappears with the app. Microsoft says users “can continue to create, edit, publish, and manage classic-style chatbot agents” in the Copilot Studio web app at copilotstudio.microsoft.com. The change is where you manage agents, not whether they exist.

The notice talks only about building and managing agents. It does not say anything about how people chat with agents that are already published, so do not read it as a shutdown of those agents.

What Microsoft asks admins to do

The notice lists four actions:

  1. Tell affected users that agent management moves to the Copilot Studio web app.
  2. Update internal documentation, training and support guidance that mentions the Teams app.
  3. Review bookmarks, user communications and helpdesk scripts that send people to manage agents from Teams.
  4. Point users to https://copilotstudio.microsoft.com/.

Microsoft lists “No compliance considerations identified.”

Why it matters

Retirements like this are easy to miss because nothing breaks on the day the notice goes out. The cost lands later, when someone opens Teams in February to fix an agent and the app is gone. A quick search of your internal wiki for “Copilot Studio” and “Teams” now is cheaper than a ticket queue then.
