Grok Bot plans and usage: what you get, what stacks, and where it goes

The sixth tutorial prices The X Subscription, then older Grok Bot grants: which tiers include the Bot, and where weekly usage goes.

Five tutorials in, you have Bots with schedules, plugins, and a group desk. All of that draws on one meter. As of 12 October 2026, a new self-serve customer buys that access on The X Subscription. If you already pay for Cursor, SuperGrok, or X Premium, that plan continues until you change it. This tutorial reads the new price table first, then the older grant rules for an account that has not switched.

Disclosure: aitamer.news is produced with Grok Bot and Cursor, two of the products covered in this tutorial.

The X Subscription

The X Subscription is one subscription for Grok, Cursor, and X. Free includes standard X. A paid individual plan includes X Premium benefits when you connect an X account (Pricing, What is The X Subscription?).

List prices below are from the pricing page, before sales tax. The page points to x.ai/pricing for current prices. Read the same day, that site lists the same monthly price for Free, Plus, Premium, and Super. It calls Premium 4x more usage than Plus, and Super 15x more than Plus. Neither page gives a token count behind Base.

Plan Monthly Annual Included usage
Free $0 $0 Limited
Plus $8/mo $80/yr ($7/mo) Base
Premium $30/mo $300/yr ($25/mo) 4x
Super $100/mo $1000/yr ($84/mo) 15x
Ultra $200/mo $2000/yr ($167/mo) 50x

Grok Bot is included on Premium, Super, and Ultra. Plus does not include it. Super and Ultra give larger shared weekly allowances. Bot usage draws from that seat’s shared weekly pool, not a separate pool (Grok Bot on The X Subscription).

The pool covers Grok Bot usage and Grok models across Grok and Cursor. Usage rates vary by product. Third-party models in Cursor, such as Claude or GPT, are not in it. They are Additional Usage from the first use, at API list prices, paid from prepaid credit. Top-ups buy those credits. After the included week is used up, further first-party usage is Additional Usage too (Usage limits).

Team seats are Premium at $30 a seat, Super at $100 a seat, and Ultra at $200 a seat. Plus is not a team seat. Each seat includes the same usage as the individual tier, and a team can mix tiers. Each self-serve seat has its own weekly pool. The team shares a prepaid balance for Additional Usage.

You do not have to switch. If you do not, your current plan continues (Do I have to switch?). A completed switch is permanent, and support cannot undo it. Eligible monthly and annual plans are cancelled, with a prorated refund for unused time, back to the original payment method and separate from checkout. The new plan is charged at full price and starts immediately. Cursor billed through the Apple App Store is the exception: switching does not cancel it, and it is not refunded here. Cancel it in iPhone or iPad Settings, and request any refund from Apple. Grok, Grok Bot, or X Premium bought through the App Store is cancelled on the switch, and Apple decides the refund. If those were bought on Google Play, cancel them there if they are still set to renew.

Four ways in, if you have not switched

The plans page, read 12 October 2026, still lists the older routes:

  • A paid individual Cursor plan. Pro, Pro+, and Ultra include Grok Bot. Pro sits below Pro+. Pro+ has “generous weekly usage, below Ultra.” Ultra is highest.
  • Cursor Teams. Every member of a self-serve Teams plan gets Grok Bot, with no Premium seat to assign. On-demand is on by default. The teams page says this stays off for Privacy Mode (Legacy). Enterprise goes through the account executive, then an admin turns it on.
  • A linked Grok or X subscription. Individual SuperGrok, SuperGrok Plus, SuperGrok Heavy, or X Premium+. Heavy is highest, then Plus, then SuperGrok. X Premium+ sits below SuperGrok Plus (Link SuperGrok for Grok Bot).
  • A Grok Business seat. Sign out and sign back in with Sign in with Grok. Usage matches the seat’s license, SuperGrok or SuperGrok Heavy.

SuperGrok Lite is not included. Grok Enterprise goes through its account manager. The plans page says request-based Teams and Enterprise seats keep Grok Bot on the Cursor contract and do not take a personal SuperGrok link. The teams page says a legacy request-based plan stays off. These older pages give no task, hour, or token count.

The larger grant

A link is a usage grant. It does not change or cancel a Cursor plan. The grants do not add. Grok Bot uses whichever one grants more weekly usage. Pro, SuperGrok, and X Premium+ are one tier. Pro+ and SuperGrok Plus are one tier. Ultra and SuperGrok Heavy are one tier.

On Pro, linking SuperGrok Plus moves Grok Bot to Plus. On Pro+, that link adds no usage. SuperGrok Heavy already linked means buying Ultra adds no usage. On Ultra, linking any SuperGrok plan or X Premium+ adds no usage. A Grok Business seat follows the same rule. Both subscriptions can stay active and keep billing. Past the included grant, the extra on this page is on-demand. A Grok Business seat ends if an admin removes it.

A SuperGrok or X Premium+ link is permanent. You cannot unlink it or move it, and the linking page says support cannot either. The FAQ still says to contact support with both account emails. Sign in with the Cursor account that should hold the grant before you link.

Choose Link Grok Account, then sign in to Grok with the account that has the subscription. X Premium+ uses that same control. The button is on cursor.com/bot/onboarding and on the phone’s paywall. Under Settings > Usage & Billing, Get Access with Grok appears under Manage Plan only when linking would raise your usage.

After an upgrade or a downgrade, allow up to 24 hours. Do not link again. Usage already spent this week still counts. A removed Teams seat ends that grant, and a link already on the account does not restore it.

Read the meter

In Grok Bot What it is
Weekly usage limit (desktop); Weekly usage (phone) Included usage. Resets weekly.
On-demand usage Extra usage after weekly runs out. The row says “Billed through Cursor”.
On-demand monthly limit The cap on that extra usage. On the web: Spending, then Monthly Limit.

Before you switch, those pools are under Settings > Usage & Billing (Settings). A SuperGrok limit in the Grok app is a different meter (FAQs). After you switch, read the shared week at grok.com/dashboard, under Usage. macOS and iOS share one bucket. The plans page does not say whether Android shares it. A separate Grok Bot spend cap is not available.

When weekly usage runs out and on-demand is off, the screen says you have reached your Grok Bot usage limit. That resets with the week. When on-demand is on, a Bot already working can finish past the monthly limit, then on-demand stops until you raise the limit or the cycle resets.

The trial is a credit

The trial is a usage credit, and a 7-day window also applies. Agent steps and tokens draw it down, not the number of messages. Used credit is not restored. Cancel Trial on a free plan ends it immediately and removes remaining credit. On a paid plan, the trial ends on its own. An App Store intro offer is Apple’s. On-demand already consumed is not refundable.

Where usage goes

Each routine run spends usage. An hourly schedule or a busy Slack trigger can use a week in a day. A routine that never runs spends nothing, and Test does (Routines; episode 03). Every Bot reply counts, including a group reply and messages between Bots (Group chats; episode 05). A chat with a teammate’s Team Bot uses your usage (Team Bots).

A weekly check on one Bot

When the week falls faster than you expect, pause routines you do not need before you raise a plan or a cap. This Monday check lists only that Bot’s routines:

Every Monday at 9:00 AM, list your own routines, how often each runs, and
whether it is paused. Mark any that run hourly or more often, and any Slack
trigger that watches a whole channel on any message. Post the list here.
Change nothing.

Open Details on every other Bot that has a schedule. Then open Usage & Billing.

On The X Subscription, Grok Bot shares one weekly pool with Grok models in Grok and Cursor, starting at Premium. If you have not switched, Grok Bot uses whichever older grant is larger, and on-demand is the extra. Episode 07 is the handoff to a Cursor cloud agent. Neither the plans page nor the X Subscription usage page says that handoff spends a different pool.
