Cisco says Claude agents are coming to Webex, not generally available

Cisco says Claude Managed Agents will soon be able to join Webex spaces, meetings and calls. Computerworld reports the new app and collaborative agents for the first quarter of 2027, with add-on pricing unstated.

Cisco used its WebexOne conference in Austin on 7 October 2026 to say that Claude will be able to join Webex spaces, meetings and calls. The newsroom release puts that in the future tense. “Soon,” it says, teams will be able to turn shared context into analysis and coordinated action across approved agents, “built with Claude Managed Agents.” It does not say the feature is generally available, and it does not give a price.

Jeetu Patel, Cisco’s president and chief product officer, says in the release: “The next era of work isn’t about bolting chatbots onto yesterday’s tools.” He says it is about agents “working alongside people and teams, being deeply embedded in their workspaces, and collaborating on a secure, trusted foundation.”

What “@mention” means in a space

The release’s example is concrete. A person can @mention an analytics agent in a Webex space, ask it for usage statistics, then ask a presentation agent to update a PowerPoint deck with those numbers. The agent is invited into that space, so it is working from the conversation the team can see, not from a private chat the rest of the room never opens.

Amit Barave, who leads Webex Suite and AI, writes that Claude, powered by Claude Managed Agents, will be able to join spaces, meetings and calls, pick up the context, and help finish the work. He says that is “soon.” Computerworld, citing a Cisco spokesperson, says that on calls the agents sit in the AI Assistant side panel and are visible only to that user.

Anthropic’s overview calls Claude Managed Agents a “pre-built, configurable agent harness that runs in managed infrastructure,” for “long-running tasks and asynchronous work,” and labels it beta. Bedrock Managed Agents, powered by OpenAI, are a separate hosted preview.

When Cisco says it arrives

The release does not say “first quarter of 2027.” Computerworld does. It reports that Personal Agents for Webex Calling, the new Webex app, collaborative agents and third-party agents are due then. Personal Agents, in Barave’s post, can screen a call, judge urgency with the caller, and take a next step when the person is away. Barave says the Translator Agent is in controlled availability. Computerworld reports a general release in November, for ten languages.

Dots, Dialog, and the admin controls

The release says a Webex Suite Model Context Protocol integration brings Webex context into OpenAI’s “dots” agents. MCP is how a host hands an agent approved tools and data. “In the future,” dots will also sit inside Webex as an always-on personal agent. Barave calls that step “soon.” Sending context out to dots, and hosting dots inside Webex, are different schedules in Cisco’s wording.

Snorre Kjesbu, who leads collaboration, describes “Bring Your Ecosystem” as connecting Webex to models, skills and agents the organization already chose. The release introduces Dialog as a harness for customer relationships: agents that keep working after a call ends, across people and back-end systems, until the outcome is done, inside enterprise policy.

AI Agent 360, in Kjesbu’s post, pairs Splunk observability with Cisco AI Defense so a company can test, secure, monitor and optimize agents. The release says the agents run inside “active safety guardrails from Cisco AI Defense,” with Splunk telemetry, and that identity, security, governance and visibility let an organization control what the AI can access, what it can do, and how it acts. That is the control surface Cisco describes.

Price

The release states no price. Computerworld, citing a Cisco spokesperson, says some AI features are included at no extra cost in Webex Suite, at $25 per user a month, and in Enterprise tiers. Collaborative agents, Personal Agents for Calling, and the Polling and Translator agents will need an add-on that Computerworld names as the “Enhanced AI Offer for AI,” coming in the next few weeks. Computerworld says that price was not given, and that Cisco did not mention a usage charge.
