Anthropic’s news post on 2 October 2026 says it is launching Claude Frontier Academy with a $100 million commitment, aiming to train 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers by the end of 2027. The first cohorts named in that post are engineers from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, and Novo Nordisk, “and others.” Cohorts are running in San Francisco, New York, and London. Participation is by nomination through an Anthropic account team or a partner manager. The program page describes a four-day intensive followed by a 12-week residency.
How the residency is structured
The news post says the first program follows a medical-residency idea: practice on realistic cases, then a graded practical, then work on a real deployment. It says engineers start with a multi-day in-person program and a graded practical on a new scenario. Those who pass earn a Claude Resident Engineer badge and enter a 12-week residency leading a Claude use case at their own organization, with Anthropic engineers involved. A second assessment at the end earns the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge. Anthropic says it expects the first of those badges in early 2027.
The program page is more specific about the calendar. It says residents spend three days in person on a simulated enterprise, from the first request through security review to handover, and are graded on a new scenario on the fourth day. Then come the 12 weeks. The news post’s “multi-day” matches that four-day opening. The page also says prior experience building agents is not required; the news post says the same, and asks for software engineers who have built with language models and have a named Claude project waiting when they return.
Figures that are Anthropic’s, or a customer’s
Anthropic says the academy builds on the Claude Partner Network, where people at 46,000 firms have earned more than 175,000 Claude certifications and nearly 4,000 people have finished Basecamp. A quote attributed to Commonwealth Bank says its teams “have produced up to 3x more code changes in the past year.” That multiplier is the bank’s statement inside Anthropic’s post, not a method Anthropic publishes. Steve Corfield, Global Head of Business Development and Partnerships, is the Anthropic executive quoted on the talent problem. Partner quotes from Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte, McKinsey, and Novo Nordisk are endorsements of joining, not independent evaluations of the curriculum.
Practical takeaway
This is a nomination-only residency with a published headcount goal and a dollar commitment, not an open online course. If your company is already an Anthropic customer or partner, the route in is the account team. The credential Anthropic says it will issue first is the resident badge after the opening practical; the Frontier Deployed Engineer badge waits until the 12 weeks end, with the first of those expected in early 2027.
